Raiders playing smart ball under Antonio Pierce
The Las Vegas Raiders haven’t been perfect in the first two games under Antonio Pierce in is first full season as the head coach.
But they have been excellent in one key area — game discipline just as they were under Pierce during his nine-game tenure as the interim head coach last season.
They were penalized just three times for 15 yards in their Week 2 26-23 win at the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and have been flagged five times in two games. The Ravens were penalized 11 times for 109 yards. That played a role in this upset as well.
The Raiders have won the penalty battle in both games this season and it hasn’t been close.
Best penalty yard differential in 1st 2 games since 2000:
2014 Vikings 166 fewer penalty yards than opponents
2015 Cardinals 155
2000 Cardinals 150
2014 #Raiders 146
2020 Raiders 141
2024 Raiders 129— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) September 15, 2024
If this continues, it’s going to help the Raiders win a lot of games.
