There are now six NFL quarterbacks making at least $40 million per year. A little over 20 months ago, there wasn’t one.
The following NFL quarterbacks are making at least $40 million per year:
- Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen
- Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
- Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott
- Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers
- Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford
- Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson
There are a few quarterbacks bound to join the prestigious list in the coming years, like Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow.
For now, though, just Allen, Mahomes, Prescott, Rodgers, Stafford and Watson are in the exclusive club.

Fans are already thinking about what future NFL quarterback contracts are going to look like.
“Those Burrow and Herbert contracts are gonna be massive,” one fan said.
It’s pretty incredible Tom Brady doesn’t make the list. He’s the best of all-time and still one of the best in the game. He’s always been willing to take less money to allow the front office to build a strong roster around him.
In five to 10 years, today’s quarterback salary numbers are going to seem tiny.
