For over a year, Tom Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, has been trying to become a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Unfortunately for him, some NFL owners had concerns about the original deal he and owner Mark Davis reached, leading to some changes needing to be made.
Eventually, the deal was reworked, and all that awaited Brady’s official ownership title was the approval of the rest of the NFL owners. And now that has finally happened.
According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, NFL owners unanimously approved Brady as a partial owner of the Raiders, purchasing a 5% stake in the team:
NFL owners have officially and unanimously approved 7-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady as a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, source says. Brady has sought this 5% slice of ownership for more than a year, and he’s officially in. @NFLonCBS

It has been a long time coming, but there is no doubt that Brady, Davis and the Raiders organization are happy to have gotten this process behind them and will now work towards turning this franchise around. Brady released a statement on his official X account stating his desire to honor the franchise’s tradition and get back to winning football games:

As Brady said in the statement, he grew up in the Bay Area undoubtedly around plenty of Raiders fans so being part of this organization is a long time coming. Most importantly, he noted he is ready to do whatever he can in order to help the Raiders get back to winning football games.
Going forward, there is a question about what this means for Brady’s work as a commentator. There would seem to be a conflict of interest in him calling games, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Mark Davis shuts down Talk of Raiders Trading Maxx Crosby
Tom Brady comes on as Raiders part-owner amid some turmoil within the franchise as they recently dealt away star receiver Davante Adams. Some have wondered whether the team might look to deal star defensive end Maxx Crosby and go to a full rebuild.
But majority owner Mark Davis shut down all talk of a potential Crosby trade, saying that it simply is not happening and that all the speculation around it comes from non-credible sources.
