It doesn’t sound like Urban Meyer will be out of work next season.
The former college football and NFL head coach is reportedly on the verge of returning to television. Meyer, who was fired less than one full season into his Jacksonville Jaguars tenure, is set to return to the FOX Big Noon Kickoff show.
Richard Deitsch reports that Meyer and FOX are deep in negotations.
“The thinking at Fox Sports, via network sources, is that they don’t view Meyer’s failure at the NFL level as an impediment to his returning to Fox. They know that the hire will be pilloried on social media. Meyer also had a 10-month broadcasting tenure at ESPN in 2011 which ended when he took the Ohio State job.
A deal has not been completed with Fox at the moment but is heading that way. Fox Sports declined comment on Saturday,” he reports.

Unsurprisingly, fans have mixed reactions to the news.
“Would really love to simply never have to hear from or about Urban Meyer ever again,” one fan tweeted.
“How on earth could you possibly hire this dude again after all the stuff about him has come out?” another fan wondered.
“Someone just needs to cut Urban Meyer off from football at this point!” one fan added.
Meyer failed in the NFL, but he won three national championships at the college level, and received good reviews for his work on FOX prior to his departure for the Jaguars.
It’s not surprising to see Meyer getting another opportunity.
