Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer, who lasted less than one full season in the National Football League, is reportedly on the verge of landing a new job.
This job is not in coaching, though – it’s in TV.
Meyer, who was an analyst for FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff prior to leaving for the NFL, is reportedly on the verge of coming back.
Richard Deitsch reports that Meyer is “deep in negotiations” to return to television following his ousting from the NFL.
“The thinking at Fox Sports, via network sources, is that they don’t view Meyer’s failure at the NFL level as an impediment to his returning to Fox. They know that the hire will be pilloried on social media. Meyer also had a 10-month broadcasting tenure at ESPN in 2011 which ended when he took the Ohio State job.
A deal has not been completed with Fox at the moment but is heading that way. Fox Sports declined comment on Saturday,” Deitsch writes.
Meyer failed in the NFL, but the three-time national title-winning college football head coach received good reviews for his TV work on FOX.
