The racing pit row has been a dangerous place today. Mere hours after a scary-looking collision with a pit crew member at an IndyCar race, a NASCAR crew member got hit too.
During today’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 in Atlanta, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell entered pit row for a stop. But Bell made contact with one of the crew members holding a heavy piece of equipment.
Incredibly, the crew member managed to not only avoid injury, but was able to keep working. The crew member seemingly used the momentum of the hit to get back into position and to his proper spot to work on Bell’s car.
The announcers for the race were impressed with how the crew worker was able to keep his balance. The fans were pretty impressed too:

“always been on your toes in the pits,” one fan replied.
“Best athletes on the track. Not bad!” wrote another.
“Dude is a Ninja,” a third fan wrote.
Pit row can be pretty dangerous if drivers and pit crew members aren’t careful. Crew members have suffered severe injuries when colliding with vehicles at the speeds they travel at.
Today we’ve seen two collisions with crew members at two of the most prominent racing circuits in America. It would be nice if those two were the last two.
At the very least, added conversations on safety would a nice addition.
