Explaining, “We’re lucky to have had the capabilities to get ahead of the fire, and we’re lucky the sprinkler system started to hold the fire in check,” via NBC News.
The flames first started around 2 PM local time. And it reportedly didn’t take too long for black smoke to be pouring out of the stadium. Images tweeted out by the fire department itself depicted a frightening situation.

Mile High Stadium, built in 2001, lost a good amount of its seats in the upper sections due to the fire. With “significant” damage done due to the synthetic plastics they were made out of.
With new ownership on the way in short order, the stadium is expected to be under different command soon.
